game-based business and its history

Online gaming refers to games that are played through some form of computer network, most often the Internet. Online games can range from simple text-based games to games that combine complex graphics and virtual worlds that are inhabited by many players simultaneously.

Online games from time to time increasingly developed and favored by many people. Online games do not look at age, both young and old, all are fond of playing online games. Even many people who spend a lot of time just to play games.

The online game is a type of computer game that uses a computer network (LAN or internet) as its medium. Usually, online games are available as additional services from online service providers or can be accessed directly through a system provided by the company that provides the game.

Online games began in 1969 when a game for two was developed with the initial aim of education. Then in the early 1970s, a system with a time-sharing capability called Plato was created to make it easier for students to learn online, where multiple users can access the computer simultaneously according to the time required. Two years later, Plato IV emerged with new graphics capabilities, which were used to create multiplayer games.

Online games also really experienced development after 1995, NSFNET (National Science Foundation Network) restrictions were removed, making access to the complete domain from the internet. Monetary success approached the companies that launched this game, so competition began to grow and make online games increasingly develop to this day.

Online Games or often called Online Games is a game that is played on a network (LAN or the Internet). The development of online games itself is inseparable from the development of computer technology and computer networks. The explosion of online games itself is a reflection of the rapid computer network that used to be a small scale to become the internet and continues to grow until now.

Then in 1970 when a packet-based computer network (packet-based computer networking) emerged, the computer network was not only limited to LANs but included WAN and became the Internet. The first online games that appeared were mostly war simulation games or aircraft used for military purposes which were finally released and commercialized, these games then inspired other games to emerge and develop. In 2001 was the peak of the dotcom fever, so that the spread of information about online gaming was faster.

Online games are divided into two types namely web-based games and text-based games. Web-based games are applications that are placed on servers on the internet where players only need to use internet access and a browser to access these games. So there is no need to install or patch to play the game. But along with the development, several features need to be downloaded to play some games, such as Java Player, Flash Player, and Shockwave Player, which are usually needed for the graphical display of the game. Besides, games like this also do not require sophisticated computer specifications, no longer and require a large bandwidth. Apart from that, most web-based games are free. Payment is only required for additional features and accelerates the development of accounts in the game.

While text-based games can be regarded as the beginning of web-based games. Text-based games have been around for a long time, where when some computers were still low-specification and it was difficult to play games with high graphics, so games were made where players only interacted with existing texts and little or no images.

Indeed, after this period, text-based games were rarely glimpsed again by gamers, but in recent years, they began to bloom text-based games that we now know as web-based games. Of course with a more modern format, graphics are reproduced and enhanced, using an increasingly creative internet connection and game developers.
